On August 7, 2021, the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report that produced an unnerving two-fold conclusion: The world has already passed the tipping point – no matter what we do we will face unavoidable and serious climate change impacts that we -- humans – have already caused. Only if we act now, the report adds, will we have the hope to avoid a complete climate catastrophe.

A panel of experts will examine what policy makers and utilities are already doing and can do to mitigate the various impacts of climate change on the reliability, resiliency and affordability of utility services. They will discuss the analytic tools at utilities' disposal, the legal and practical limits on regulatory changes and the strategies utilities and policymakers may utilize as they decarbonize their power systems.
