Young Lawyers Committee Information and Charter

The charter of the Young Lawyers Committee (YLC) consists of three components.

First, the members of the YLC seek to educate themselves and others in the practice of energy law. Toward this end, the YLC will sponsor a variety of educational programs that will call upon the knowledge and experience of seasoned practitioners and other energy industry professionals, FERC and other government officials, and YLC members themselves.

The second component is student outreach.  The YLC will actively seek student participation in YLC and Association events and will sponsor programs designed to introduce students to the opportunities and rewards of careers in the energy industry.

Third, the YLC seeks to integrate newer energy law practitioners into the bar, the Association, and the community. The YLC will host events that encourage networking and facilitate cordial relationships among newer energy law practitioners such that YLC members may begin to develop the lasting relationships which promote the mutual trust and professionalism important to effective representation. The YLC will also seek opportunities to work with more seasoned practitioners and energy professionals in planning and hosting Association events.  In these ways, the YLC will help cultivate experienced members of the bar who are capable of advancing the Association’s mission of promoting the professional excellence and ethical integrity of its members in the practice, administration, and development of energy laws, regulations and policies.
