Member Types and Rates

2020 ATTORNEY MEMBERSHIP

Any attorney in good standing may become a member of the EBA. EBA membership is open to those interested in energy law including attorneys, consultants and other energy professionals, academics and students. Please link here to REVIEW SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Membership runs on a calendar year (January - December) and dues are payable January 1st each year. Student membership runs on a twelve month cycle beginning August 1st. EBA does not offer prorated memberships.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES FOR ATTORNEYS

PRIVATE ATTORNEY ($225)

PRIVATE ATTORNEY membership is for attorneys practicing or interested in energy law from private practice and law firms and non- profit associations.

IN-HOUSE COUNSEL ($225)

IN-HOUSE COUNSEL membership is for an attorney who is employed full time by a non-governmental corporation, partnership, association, or other legal entity, including its subsidiaries and organizational affiliates that is not itself engaged in the practice of law or the rendering of legal services outside such organization.

SOLO/ SMALL FIRM ATTORNEY ($225)

SOLO/ SMALL FIRM ATTORNEY membership is for law firms with 10 or fewer full-time attorneys (inclusive of all full-time attorneys regardless of practice area, exclusive of supportive staff and non-attorney professionals).

YOUNG LAWYER ($150)

YOUNG LAWYER memberships are discounted for those attorneys who have graduated from law school within the last three years, that is, on or after January 1, 2017.

GOVERNMENT ATTORNEY ($100)

GOVERNMENT ATTORNEY membership is discounted for attorneys employed at a government or ERO agency. There is also a membership category for GOVERNMENT IN-HOUSE COUNSEL employed at government agencies.

ACADEMIC ATTORNEY ($100)

ACADEMIC ATTORNEY membership is for attorneys employed at an educational institution.

STUDENT ($25)

STUDENT membership is for individuals currently enrolled at a college or university. Any person who has graduated from law school and is not eligible for membership in any other category shall be eligible for membership as a “Student Member” of the Association.

RETIREE ($78)

EBA members who are retiring in good standing, that held membership with EBA for at least five (5) years, are 65 years or older AND presently not practicing law qualify for the RETIREE membership type.

2020 ENERGY PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Energy Professionals who satisfy the membership criteria set forth below, are encouraged to join the EBA. Energy Professional members will have the opportunity to participate in all of the Association's programs and activities, with the exception of voting.

A resume, biographical sketch or description of your background and experience in the energy field must be submitted with your application.

Energy Professionals will be considered for Energy Bar Association membership if their credentials meet one or more of the following criteria:

  1. employment in a professional capacity in an energy company or an energy industry trade association;
  2. employment in a professional capacity in a federal, state or local government organization that has jurisdiction over energy companies;
  3. employment in a professional capacity in a firm that provides professional services to energy companies or governmental organizations that have jurisdiction over energy companies;
  4. employment or affiliation at an academic institution in a field related to or supporting energy law and policy; or
  5. professional experience within the past five years in matters pertaining to the development, administration, and/or application of energy law and policy, such as economic analysis, engineering analysis, regulatory analysis, project development or contract administration (each pertaining to energy).

ENERGY PROFESSIONAL ($225) 

ENERGY PROFESSIONAL membership are for those in the private sector, such as private institutions of higher learning, nonprofits, associations, think tanks, law firms, etc. 

GOVERNMENT ENERGY PROFESSIONAL ($100)

GOVERNMENT ENERGY PROFESSIONAL membership are for non-attorneys in the energy industry at a government agency.

ACADEMIC ENERGY PROFESSIONAL ($100)

ACADEMIC ENERGY PROFESSIONAL memberships are for non-attorney professionals employed at an education institution.
