A Message from Your EBA President and CEO

Dear EBA Members:

Each day, the Energy Bar Association strives to meet your needs and exceed your expectations. While 2020 presented everyone with a seemingly never-ending stream of challenges and caused us to curtail the in-person gatherings we all enjoy, EBA nonetheless has worked tirelessly to bring you the programming content, networking opportunities, and sense of connection and belonging that is so critical today.

For 74 years, EBA has helped our members meet current and future challenges by connecting and engaging with one another. We know you cannot rely on “business as usual” which is why EBA continues to offer high-quality benefits critical to your ongoing success. In 2020, EBA presented 34 educational and networking programs. These programs attracted over 2000 professionals focused on all aspects of energy law and drew on a diverse pool of speakers and thought leaders.

In 2020, EBA introduced the following new benefits for members:

  • exceptional CLE approved learning and networking programs with the flexibility to view programming on your own schedule;
  • professional development opportunities coordinated by experienced EBA steering committees and councils;
  • meaningful opportunities to connect, including a members-only online community for open discussions related to all aspects of energy law;
  • Energy Law Academy courses focused on the core legal and regulatory concepts and basic industry fundamentals that every energy law practitioner needs for success;
  • exclusive access to the new Webinar Training Pass, discounted industry training for your entire practice;
  • an expanded network through the creation of our new Canadian Chapter, formed to improve understanding of cross-border energy issues;
  • a new online publication, EBA Brief, that provides timely articles on energy-related legal and policy issues and authorship opportunities;
  • a new confidential Mentor program that provides members access to a group of experienced EBA members in a wide range of practice areas and types of practice, for consultation about career development.

For 2021, we have even bigger goals ahead:

  • With the implementation of a new membership database, EBA will provide a more intuitive online experience, as well as enhanced network building search capabilities.
  •  Enhance regional presence through programming with state commissions;
  •  Develop targeted content accessible through the EBA website, programs, and new podcasts;
  • Grow our young, diverse membership through law school partnerships, and;
  • Provide user-friendly technology for an enhanced virtual conference experience.

Along with EBA’s Board of Directors, we want to thank you for your membership in 2020, and we invite you to continue growing personally and professionally with EBA in 2021. Please feel free to contact us to share thoughts and suggestions on how we can make 2021 the best year yet! Thank you again and best wishes for a fulfilling new year.
