Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association Announces $50,000 Cornerstone Grant to Nova Ukraine

The Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association is proud to announce that it has selected Nova Ukraine as the 2023 Cornerstone Grant Recipient, awarding the humanitarian organization $50,000 to support essential energy-related needs in war-ravaged Ukraine.

Nova Ukraine is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, working diligently to aid vulnerable groups and individuals, supporting efforts to build a strong civil society, reforming the educational system, and eliminating corruption.

Immediate Need for Hospital Generators and Warmings Centers
As a result of recent attacks on the Ukrainian power grid, Nova Ukraine’s grant request focused on the immediate need for electric generators in hospitals and warming centers across the country. Ostap Korkuna, Co-chairman of Nova Ukraine, stated “these projects are closely aligned with the Energy Bar Association’s mission to support energy-related charitable projects with large impact. Both projects will have an outsized impact on people of Ukraine suffering from destruction of civil infrastructure and sub-freezing winter temperatures.” This grant of $50,000 covers nearly 60% of the initial generator project needs.

The CFEBA Board is proud to support this year’s Cornerstone Grant, funding electric generators for Nova Ukraine to deploy to support essential services in hospitals and warming centers throughout Ukraine. CFEBA’s mission is to provide support to energy-related programs focused on improving lives worldwide. The electric generators funded by the CFEBA’s grant squarely align with the CFEBA mission and will make a meaningful difference to the people of Ukraine affected by disruptions in civilian energy infrastructure and winter conditions,”
Heather Horne, CFEBA President and Associate General Counsel at Duke Energy Corporation.

The CFEBA appreciates the strong support of the Energy Bar Association membership and friends within the energy industry. Energy plays a vital role in our communities around the world, and the CFEBA looks forward to continuing to build on its valuable work in supporting energy-related charitable projects.

The CFEBA annual gala, following the first day of the Energy Bar Association’s annual meeting, is a major source of funding for the CFEBA grant program. This year’s Gala will be held on May 11, 2023 in Washington, D.C. Please consider sponsoring the Gala to support the CFEBA’s work.
